STEEL PULSE BASSMAN PLAYS ON MASUD SADIKI’S ALBUM

Basseterre, St. Kitts. On the afternoon of Saturday 23 June 2007, while the acts for the last night of the St Kitts Music Festival were busy sound checking, Kittitian reggae artist Masud Sadiki, his producer Raga Redz and Bungo Trunks his drummer, were rushing to the Atlantic Recording Studio in Molineaux, with Amlak Tafari, the bassist for the Grammy winning, reggae group, Steel Pulse. This rush was due to Amlak’s scheduled departure from the island.

After meeting with Masud and his musicians at the music festival music workshop, Amlak offered to play on Masud’s new album.

The title of the song he played on is “Talk Talk Talk”, on which Masud urges adults to stop blaming the youths for the ills in society. Amlak’s performance on the track was explosive and powerful.

Masud’s Producer Hakeem “Raga Redz” Samuel said that he selected that song in particular for Amlak, as it has a Steel Pulse feel musically.

“We are so excited and honoured to have had such and excellent blessing of working with such an accomplished musician on our project. Plus, brother Amlak is such a positive and cool person to meet and easy to work with”, Masud said.

Studio owner, musician and engineer, Ip Isaac also said that he is happy and honoured to have had Amlak working in his studio and that from listening to the songs on this album, he feels that Masud is about to draw a lot more attention and have a more significant impact on the international reggae music scene.

Masud’s new album, Keep It Down To Earth, is almost completed and is due for a late summer release this year. It features 14 powerful songs that showcase some of the sharpest musicians and artists in the federation. The main producer is Hakeem “Raga Redz” Samuel, while four of the songs were produced by Jazzique Chiverton.

The album features some familiar hit singles including Start Counting Your Blessings, Come A Me Yard, Dance Want Clean Out and In My Dreams.

Masud Sadiki and the Kala-Bash band are poised to take their Kittitian brand of reggae music world wide, while promoting love and peace through their music.
